If you’re one of the people who used to read my blog, you may have noticed I took a big
(unintentional) break last year and barely posted anything throughout 2018. But, it’s a new year, and one of my resolutions is to post once a week so what
better time than now to give my favourite little girl, Margo, a proper introduction?
Anyone
who even vaguely knows me will know that I absolutely love cats. Like many
people, I just think they’re adorable balls of fur and I want to be around them
24/7.
I’ve
always wanted a cat but I wasn’t in the position where I could afford one for
the longest time, so it wasn’t until last year that having one of my own
finally became a realistic prospect.
Now,
I’m a big worrier and getting a cat was no different, so I was very nervous
that I would get one and it would end up hating me. I genuinely think this is
one of the things that made me put off getting one until the end of summer.
As
it happened, my friend, Megan, ended up fostering a pregnant stray called
Sooty who is one of the friendliest cats you will ever meet and she gave birth to
four little kittens on 17th May – one black, one black and white,
one tabby and one medium-haired grey ball of fluff.
It
may sound awful for me to say but I was instantly drawn to the black and white
kitten because… she was kind of ugly. She had a black marking on her head while
her face and neck were white, which kind of made it look like a hair piece and her
eyes took longer than the others to open so she was a very squinty baby.
She
was definitely a lot cuter by time I finally met her in person (and I genuinely
think she’s one of the most beautiful cats I’ve ever seen now – not at all
biased) but we didn’t instantly bond and I was actually the first person she
ever bit.
There
were some complications with the shelter Megan was fostering from when it came
to adopting them, so for a while it looked like I wasn’t going to get the kitten
after all but, after a lot of back and forth, it all got sorted in July and at
the beginning of August Margo finally got to come home with me.
Away
from the other cats, Margo has completely come into herself and formed an
adorable mischievous personality. She’s not naughty, but she’s very playful and
loves to kick aside all of her chosen-with-love cat toys in favour for a
sellotape ball or a cardboard box.
She’s
very spoilt now so I make sure to tell her about Sooty’s life on the streets
before finding a home at Megan’s and that Margo should be grateful that her mum
went through that so that she can enjoy a privileged life lying on cushions
all day, but she doesn’t seem to care.
In
all seriousness, getting Margo is one of the best things that has ever happened
to me. She is so trusting, has a lovely temperament and honestly makes every
day so much better for having her in my life.
If
you’ve been contemplating getting a cat but are hesitant about taking the
plunge, I’d say do it. It’s so rewarding and those toe beans really are the
gift that keeps on giving.
If
you have a cat, please tell me all about them in the comments! Believe me, I
want to know.
See
you next Wednesday!
OmG, Margo is so beautiful!! She is adorable, such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteCats really make our lives better, don't they?
I am also a cat person and would also like to be surrounded with them 24/7.
They really do! I used to spend loads of time in cat cafes before I had her, they're just such lovely animals
DeleteShe's soooo cute! I'm not really a cat person but she has the sweetest little face. That photo of her asleep on the bed is the cutest. Sounds like she was a very lucky kitty đź’•

I could stare at her sleeping for hours. Sounds just a little bit creepy, but it's true!
DeleteDnaaaawww what a cutie. She is so adorable! I am such a cat lady! I have a cat too, Gingembre. Crazy psychocat but love him nonetheless
ReplyDeleteMargo definitely has her crazy moments too! She's spent most of the evening zooming around the house and knocking things over but they're so worth it arent they?
DeleteOh my gosh congratulations on your new addition! She is absolutely gorgeous & ridiculously cute!
ReplyDeleteLove, Amie ❤

Thank you! I know, I can't stop taking pictures of her
DeleteThis is the most adorable story ever, and it's not weird at all, I tend to find animals which are more on the 'quirky' side more adorable and ever and would pick adopt them all if I could!
ReplyDeleteAlys / withlovealys.com
I do too! They just seem to have more character and saaaaame, I'd love to just rescue all the strays
DeleteAwww Margo is such a cutie! I loved how you ran through how you found her and how it's going so far. Funnily enough, I also finally adopted a kitten last year after wanting one since I was way younger! It's like a dream come true to be honest. My cats name is Azraq (Azzi for short) - which means blue in arabic. His fur is grey blue hence his name haha. He's my little companion now and I love when he just lies down on my lap and lets me cuddle him. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a sweet name! It's funny how quickly they become such a big part of your life. Margo was terrified when we first brought her home because it was a big change for her but the next day she was my best friend, they're so trusting
DeleteOh my god, Margo is SO cute! That photo of her in the box has my heart just melting. I love that her mother and siblings were rescued, the thought of those precious little babies on the street makes me so sad. It's so funny you were attracted to her cause she was ugly haha! I have two cats (a black and white one like yours called Levi and a tabby called Millie) and I picked Millie as a kitten because she was the 'crazy' one from her litter - while all the others let me stroke them, she tried to attack me. I was sold haha.
ReplyDeleteThank you for introducing us to your bundle of fluff; cats are honestly the best and I love seeing other peoples pets!

She is obsessed with boxes! Our house is full of them now and it's all her fault. I know what you mean, they thought her mum had been abandoned when the owner found out she was pregnant because she was so well groomed so probably hadn't been on the street for long. I don't know how anyone could do that. Sounds like you made the right choice with Millie!
Deleteaww she is so adorable! I'm glad you finally got a kitten x
ReplyDeleteThank you! She was worth the wait
DeleteOh my gosh she is so cute! That picture snuggling the stuffed cat is adorable!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?? I couldn't get my camera quick enough
DeleteHer picture from when she was a small kitty is so cute. It's her eyes and the lagoon she have. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hard to believe she was ever that tiny
Deleteshe’s absolutely adorable! i cracked up when you said she looked like she had a hair piece! i’m sorry there was such a back and forth to get her to be yours but thankfully she’s in a loving home now! it’s amazing how much animals can impact our lives xx
ReplyDeletemich / simplymich.com
It was honestly the first thing I thought when I saw her! She's grown into it now though and she wears it very well
DeleteShe's too cute! I've been thinking about getting a cat since moving into my new apartment.
ReplyDeleteDo it!!! Best thing I've ever done
DeleteWhat a happy cat update! Im glad you got your dream!! I have 3 cats!
ReplyDeleteI'm so tempted to get another one but then I feel like I wouldn't stop and suddenly I'd have 15
DeleteI love her! I’ve always wanted a cat but I’m allergic.
ReplyDeleteThat's so sad, I've always thought you should only be allowed to be allergic to things you don't like. It's so unfair when it's something as cute as cats
DeleteOh my word Margo is beautiful! I have a cat and I love him to bits, I'm such a cat person! x
ReplyDeleteLucy | www.lucymary.co.uk
I am too, as you've probably guessed! They are just the nicest animals, she brightens up my days
DeleteMargo is so cute! Love the story of how you almost didn't get her, but finally you did.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this update!

Thank you for reading! Hard to imagine what it would be like if I hadn't got her now
DeleteShe's so cute! So glad to hear she's settling in really well too!

Thanks Jenny, she really is the sweetest
DeleteOhhhhh, she is absolutely gorgeous! Sooo pretty. We have three cats: my old boy, Jester, my daughter's 3 y/o, Spooky, and my husband's hobo, Ginger, who moved in with us. I love Margo's story, and I agree with you about cats changing lives for the better. She's a very lucky girl to have her home with you, even if she does need reminding from time to time, haha! Thank you so much for sharing your pictures and her story :) x
ReplyDeleteLisa | www.lisasnotebook.com
Aw I love the names, especially Spooky! I'd love to get more but I'm worried I wouldn't stop!
DeleteShe's very sweet. We have 4 cats - Pomme, Millie, Bib and Jasper, all of them rescued in one way or another. I think I may do some blog posts concentrating on each cat and where they came from. That would be fun!!
ReplyDeleteFat Dormouse (https://fatdormouse.wordpress.com/)
You definitely should! I'd love to read them, anything for an excuse to look at cat pictures!
DeleteAhh it's lovely to see you back in the blogging game! Margo is such a little cutie and I ADORE the picture of her hugging the cat toy, hehe! I got my little pal Nacho when I was 17, she's a little jug dog. I was so lonely at the time and she honestly filled my world right up. She's 6 this year and I couldn't imagine my life without her, ever! I was also drawn to her because she was ugly and had an underbite so her teeth stick out - ugly animals are the BEST! She's actually sat cuddling up to me as I type this, I'm so happy you have a little furry best friend!
ReplyDeleteAlice Xx
Aw thank you Alice, it's good to be back! Isn't it amazing how they can have such a big impact on your life? I'm such a big fan of Nacho, she's absolutely adorable and I'm so pleased that Margo and Nacho looked a little odd so we'd both end up picking them, we definitely made the right decisions there!
